Yarn along

Joining in with Ginny once again.
Knitting and reading, two of the very best ways to relax and enjoy.

Still beavering away on the gift makes, so many done, yet still more to do. This is the cowl I'm working on for middle big girl, to match with the mitts and hat previously shown. I'm making it up as I go so hoping it will be ok:

Actually it's a bit risky all this top of the head creating, there's already been a few ripped back pieces. Maybe sticking to a proven pattern would help speed things up a little more......
Reading......well that hasn't happened so much the past week. Books still open include Anger and Oliver, as previously blogged, but no further into. I have gotten a few pages further into the one shown though but knitting is at the fore with only a few weeks to go!
Also on the needles are the ribbed scarf of biggest littlie, and the gloves for the man, which have both stayed the same since last mentioned. I could always give the man the one glove to keep the chain holding hand warm whilst walking Saffi. The other hand is always in his pocket anyway......
Off for a quick look at what you're all working on before it's back to the cowl again.
And thank you for your comments last week, about replying to other blog posts. I think I might have to be a bit stricter this week and make sure I only have a quick look at other posts, I have so much knitting and so little time, although I would love to be able to spend the time enjoying every ladst post.....

oooh, I really like the pattern you're making up - the cables look great and the yarn is really showing them off nicely :)

Beautiful cables and the yarn looks so soft and puffy! You knit beautifully. I am going to keep this as inspiration to keep plugging away. I can't believe how close we are to Christmas. It always sneaks up on me! ;)

The cables look beautiful and I am sure the cowl will be wonderfully warm finished. Sticking to the pattern might speed the process but doesn't always make it enjoyable and that is the point right.
Happy creating.

That is really very pretty! I love the colour of the yarn and how the cables make it shimmer like water :)

I find that it has to be either knitting or reading too at the moment with all the stocking fillers on the go...the cowl looks really good...great idea about the page at the top to share patterns...thanks. I hope you share this one too, when and if you have time.

Hope you don't have any more unravelling!

I love cables! And the yarn seems so soft, perfect for a cowl.
I appreciated your comment on breast feeding, I've come to realize that many mothers don't share the fact that they keep breastfeeding, and sometimes I understand why. On the other hand, I feel that by letting others know I'm fighting the prejudice....

gosh that's lovely and cosy-looking - I wish I could get the hang of cables! It's not for want of trying but the whole process is always punctuated by the sound of me dropping little needles!

That wool looks so lovely and warm and the variations of colour in it are beautiful. I haven't done any cable work for years, yours are stunning.

Your scarf is so soft and warm looking. I agree making up patterns as you go slows you down, but there's also an additional layer of pride when you can tell someone you not only knit it, but you designed it too!
